GRAPHIC DESIGN

As a graphic designer, I am not content to leave my film work up to the interpretation of another marketer. These are the posters and DVD labels I have created for my films, as well as brochures and logos that I have created in the course of my work.

THE ROCKEFELLER

CENTER FLAG INSTALLATION

In 2020,  Rockefeller Center held an open art competition, asking artists to design a flag that reflected  something special about New York City. Over 2,000 entries came from around the world and they selected 180 to be flown in their famous court of flags. I am fortunate enough to say my flag was one of those chosen.

I used Coney Island as my inspiration and used their famous mermaid festival as part of the imagery.

The flags were flown for three months, as my flag design is seen below.

SPOTLIGHT ON

"THE CRYPTIDS" Swag for SXSW

For The History Project, I created a fun video & podcast for Halloween to celebrate the cryptids of West Virginia. I hand drew each of them and then transferred them into Adobe Illustrator, where I brushed them up.

While still in Illustrator, I created comic books for each to augment the storytelling and add some humor. The final video, edited in After Effects, was so well received that the West Virginia Film Office wished to sue the cryptids as their mascots for their "swag," handouts to be given out at the SXSW Media Festival in Austin and other events.

"THE LEGACY OF THE LAND" PACKAGING

For my documentary, The Legacy of the Land, I also created the branding and packaging. DVDs were to be disseminated to schools and libraries, so I created this two-disc set in InDesign.

MAPMAKING

Click on any one to see it expanded and use the arrow at right to go to the next one.

Due to the nature of highways projects and documentaries, it has been necessary that I create maps that can be animated. These are the many maps I created that represent different historical and cultural aspects that were used in animation to support my written content.
